VILHA

For VilHa, we co-designed an urban intervention with the students, parents and school community of BS Nieuwland in the Terre-Neuve neighbourhood.

Through a series of participatory workshops, we explored how the school entrance could become safer and more visible, with particular attention to slowing down car traffic and strengthening the presence of children in public space. Together, we defined the location, colours, ground markings and signage that would shape the intervention.

The resulting design combines a colourful pattern painted on the cobblestones with playful vertical signs based on drawings made by the children, translating their imagination into the streetscape. Together, these elements aim to encourage drivers to slow down while creating a joyful and recognisable school entrance that gives greater presence to the school and its students.
